RAL colours
More than 80 years ago RAL began to clearly identify
colour tones, gave the colours definite numbers and names and with that paved
the way: one unified language was created for the world of colour. What began
in 1927 with a table of colours containing 40 colour tones, that were in
particular deamand by the public and industry, has today grown to the number
of 2325 colour tones, always answering new demand. Through strict quality
control the users are being offered the highest precision. Thus in 80 years
an exemplary success story was written, today the RAL-colours are a worldwide
determining standard in industry, trades and design as well as for the professional
colour users.
In the mean time three independent collections exist that complement
each other perfectly for the professional colour design: RAL EFFECT, RAL
CLASSIC and RAL DESIGN.

RAL EFFECT
The newly developed colour palette RAL EFFECT is setting new standards today
in ingenius colouring, environmental orientation and simple manufacturing.
RAL even realised the wish for a stronger design variety in the heavily industrial
area of colour utilisation: The new collection contains 420 uni- and as a particular
highlight 70 metallic-colour tones. RAL EFFECT is also the first collection
from a prominent colour standardiser, which is based on a waterbased paint
system. The use of lead, cadmium and chromates is out of the question. Thus
RAL also lives up to their responsibility to the environment in the area of
colour tone cards. Securing a simple and cost effective production of paint
materials plays an important part in the development of RAL EFFECT, alongside
the aspect of environmental impact. The road from the colour original to the
metamerism free paint was decidedly improved. Here again RAL EFFECT sets the
current bench-mark.

RAL CLASSIC
Industry and trade have conformed to the
RAL-colour cards for decades with all of the 210 firmly defined RAL CLASSIC-colours.
The „CLASSICs“ are
essentail for all who (verbindlich) work with colours. Colour number plus
colour name assure clear communication, for example, when ordering a chosen
colour tone. In daily practice this means that the world over „RAL
3000 fire red“ is the same colour tone. Whether commercial vehicles
or garage doors, venetian blinds or facades – RAL CLASSIC is the
epicentre in all areas of application.

RAL DESIGN System
In contrast to the arbitrary colour numbers of RAL CLASSIC, the
colours in RAL DESIGN system are systematically arranged by hue, brightness,
and
saturation. This system was mainly developed for demanding colour design.
Thus it is the colour system of choice for architects, designers or ad
agencies – nationally and internationally. With its 1624 systematically
arranged, colourmetrical defined colour tones the system is a perfect instrument
for demanding decorative colour designs. In 2007 the RAL DESIGN system
was revised and now contains 26 new pastel- colour tones. Creative colour
designs demand a multitude of colour nuances – RAL DESIGN fulfills
that demand with the highest precision.
