Using RAL colours in CorelDRAW! 5.x-7.x

If the files are to be installed in the aforementioned directory, all RAL-colours are available for all colour functions (lines, fill in, gradient, etc.) in CorelDRAW!:

  1. Open CorelDRAW! and the file you intend to work with.
  2. Click on the colour selection field (fill bucket) and the colour wheel symbol.
  3. Go to "define palette".
  4. In the aforementioned directory open one of the below named palette files.
  5. Select "define paletteDefinierte Palette/define as standard".
  6. Exit the colour selection window by selecting OK and select from the main menu under "view/ clour palette" the "define palette" (5.0) or under "view/ colourpalette" the "user defined colours".
  7. You can now design with the RAL-colours!

In Corel PHOTO-PAINT 5.0 you can arrive at the RAL-colours through the colour selection-roll up-window, which can be selected from the "view" menu. In the top third of this window you need to click on the arrow symbol located beneath the colour-model selection field and open the desired RAL-colour palette. In Corel PHOTO-PAINT 6.0 and 7.0 you arrive in the colour selection window in which, to begin with, you can open a new or existing 24-bit colour picture and then with a double click you can select one of the relevant colours from the lower horizontal picture bar.

In CorelSHOW 5.0 and CorelTRACE 5.0 the colour selection window is pulled up with a colourful switch on the right side of the upper button bar in the programs. The selection of the RAL-colours through the "defined palette" is equivalent to that of CorelDRAW! 5.0.

In CorelMOTION 3D (6.0 and 7.0) you will arrive at the selection of the "defined palette" through the "environment characteristics" and "edit surfaces". In Corel OCR TRACE it is the menu command "extras/ options/ colour", and in CorelPRESENTS one arrives at the RAL-colours with the fill bucket from the tools palette, exactly as with CorelDRAW! (see above).

CorelDREAM 3D and CorelDEPTH do not permit the use of RAL colour files as they do not support user defined colour palettes.

Using RAL colours in CorelDRAW! 8.x

  1. Open CorelDRAW! and the file you intend to work with.
  2. Click on the colour selection field (fill bucket) and the colour surface-symbol
  3. In the headline of the now open window select the button on the right ("customised palettes").
  4. Under "typ" select the "open palette" function and go to the desired RAL-file in the COREL/GRAPHICS8/CUSTM/PALETTES directory.
  5. Under "options" select the "display colour names" entry.
  6. With "view/colour palette/customised colours" the RAL-colours are always visible on the border of the screen.
  7. The RAL-colours are also readily available with "view/ Rollups/ colour" and "palette/ defined colours" in a rollup window.
  8. The opportunity to switch between different palettes (varying RAL-optimisations) is practical: "load view/colour palette" opens a so-called "docking window". The diverse RAL-palettes can be added, to the existing palettes, for quick access with the “load” command.
  9. You can now design with the RAL-colours!

In Corel Photo-Paint as in CorelDRAW-Rollup you can establish the RAL-tone with a double click on "paint" the active colour for retouching (fill bucket, paintbrush). With "load view/palettes" you likewise arrive at a "docking window" for quick palatte selection and with "view/ defined colours" you can permanently affix the RAL-colours on the border of the screen.

CorelDREAM 3D and CorelDEPTH do not permit the use of RAL colour files as they do not support user defined colour palettes.

Different masks are used in the composition (here: CorelDRAW 8.0).
The RAL-palette window floats to the right. The chosen active RAL-colour name appears in the lower status bar.
