Colour Values
Which RGB-/CMYK-/LAB-/HLC- colour value has a certain colour?
In this program the colour values
of all colours are displayed in various models. This
way the values can be used in all colour capable programs with the
colours, whether RGB, CMYK, HLC or Lab input is used. The
final quality, i.e. the agreement with the original colours, is also shown.
The most important colour values from the first sight.
The shown values
The colour values of the CIELAB-model are device-independent and represent the base values of the software, in which the colour is defined (the appearance of a RGB- colour value depends on the output device).
HLC -Colour values are a simple conversion of the cartesian CIELAB-coordinates L, a* and b* into polar coordinates Hue, Lightness and Chroma. These are intuitively conceivable as Gee up, Lightness and Chroma (coloured tone, herewith brightness, Buntheit), one can select very intuitively and sensory-correctly colour.
The colour values RGB are based on a conversion of the rennet-colour values in Standard-RGB (sRGB) to HP/Microsoft. Numerous printers, plotters and screens were adapted to the sRGB standard. sRGB should be used for screen uses and in more modern colour printers of all kind.
The colour values CMYK are an exact grid default for the offset printing on painted, unpainted and newsprints. They can be looked up in the provided CMYK atlas. The following parametres are valid it:
|
Optimisation |
Procedure, Parameter |
Art print
|
matt coated Bilderdruckpapier, white, holzfrei Schneidersöhne LuxoArt Silk 170 g/m² (ECI paper class 1+2) Rasterfrequency: 175 lpi; 70er Raster |
Uncoated paper offset print
|
uncoated paper offset print paper, white Munken Lynx 200 g/m²; 1,13 vol. (ECI Papierklasse 4) Rasterfrequency: 138 lpi, 54er Raster |
Newsprint (Recycling)
|
uncoated paper offset print paper, white Recystar 150 g/m²; 1,3 vol. (ECI paper class 4) Rasterfrequency: 138 lpi, 54er Raster |
Quality of the colour values
The CMYK colour values and previews
are with their exactness better than the correpsonding informations for
a colour e. g. in Photoshop, InDesign, QuarkXprress etc. The CMYK preview
fields show a more detailed picture of the result of the print as the mentioned
applications.
